Simply reuse keratin bond extensions

Keratin bond extensions typically last between 3 and 4 months. After this period, they need to be removed as they will have grown out too far. However, if the hair still looks good and the structure remains intact, it doesn't need to be discarded! It can be reworked with new keratin. This can be done using either a heating iron or an ultrasound device. When used correctly, both you and your customers benefit – you won't need to purchase entirely new extensions each time, but can reuse the hair.

Benefits of keratin granules

  • Efficient: With a pack of 100g, up to 1000 strands can be bonded.

  • Colour selection: The granules are available in brown, transparent and black. For blonde tones, grey hair and colourful shades, the transparent version is generally recommended.

  • High-quality material: The material is Italian hard keratin. It is easy to shape and ensures reliable hold.

Turn loose hair into bonded extensions

Would you like to convert loose hair or wefts into keratin-bonded extensions? It’s easy! With the help of the granules, you can easily transform loose hair. Simply divide the hair into strands of your desired thickness, using around one gram per strand as a general rule. Of course, smaller amounts, such as 0.5g, can also be used. It’s important that the hair is aligned correctly, in its natural direction of growth. If the hair is processed the wrong way, with the roots facing downwards, this can cause matting.
Not all hair is suitable for being bonded. Extensions such as our clip-ins, which are intended for occasional wear, are not suitable for this. Although our clip-in extensions are also made of 100% human hair, they are not made for permanent use. Permanent extensions such as keratin bonds or wefts are less pre-treated. They can withstand daily use, such as sleeping, washing and styling, better. If clip-in extensions were to be bonded and worn permanently, they would lose quality more quickly than those hair extensions that are designed for long-term use.

Tips for Rebonding

Rebonding should only be carried out by trained professionals.
Before you start, please check the quality of the hair. The hair should still have a good structure. If necessary, sort out the strands that no longer look good.
When the extensions are removed, the keratin dissolves. Make sure that as few hairs as possible are lost by handling the loose strands carefully. Once the new keratin is applied, the hair should be securely bonded within it.

What you will need:

  • loose hair/ strands of hair
  • keratin
  • fusion iron/ ultrasound device
  • bond cutter for subsequent correction
  • suitable tool for shaping the keratin

Cut off the old keratin completely and hold the strand firmly.
Several grains are needed for one strand of hair. Place the keratin into the heat tongs with the top of the strand. Squeeze the tip of the tongs until the keratin has melted. Shape it while it is still soft and malleable.
To make U-tips, you can use special bonding pliers with a U-shaped tip. Alternatively, you can create flatter connection points using tape pliers, for example. As soon as the keratin has cooled, you can cut it with a bonding cutter. It's worth it to make an effort and work carefully when bonding. This makes it easier to insert the hair extension later.
Theoretically, you can use any heat pliers from our range for rebonding. However, the pliers with the wider tip are a bit more practical.
Alternatively, instead of heat tongs, a special melting pot designed for this purpose can be used.
