What you need to know about extension care
After the hair extensions have beein installed, the hair must not be washed or brushed vigorously for at least 24 hours so that the attachment points can harden. The hair must never be combed or brushed when wet, as this could cause hair breakage. Before combing or brushing the hair, you should make sure that your own hair, and especially the attachment points, are already dry. It is absolutely essential to avoid pulling or tugging on wet hair. It is recommended that you sort the strands with your fingers at least three times a day. Special care for extensions can improve combability.
Care of the extensions when washing your hair
Caring for your extensions is also very important when washing your hair, as this is the only way they will last a long time and look beautiful. Before washing, untangle your hair with a special extension brush . You can also loosen larger tangles with your fingers. Hair should never be washed upside down. It is ideal to wash it in the shower or at the hairdresser's backwash basin. Matting can occur when washing upside down. To wash, simply distribute the required amount of shampoo in your hands and carefully lather it. Avoid unnecessary rubbing, especially at the roots and at the bonds. To care for your extensions, you should use a hair treatment after every hair wash. To do this, simply distribute the hair mask in your hands and apply it to the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the attachment points. Leave the treatment on for at least 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Hair extensions should not be washed more than three times a week.
Extensions Care: Drying Hair
When drying your hair, it is important not to rub it dry, but to gently knead it dry with a towel. Only brush your hair once it has dried. Before drying, you can use a treatment for extensions such as a balm or a spray treatment, as this makes the hair much easier to comb and the extensions are not subjected to as much stress. Then blow-dry your hair until it is nearly dry, then style as desired. Be sure to use a heat protectant. If you prefer to air-dry your hair, make sure to blow-dry the extension bonds at least. We recommend blow-drying over air-drying.
This is how to brush the extensions
In addition, the hair should be brushed several times a day with the special extension brush (ideally in the morning and evening). Always brush the tips first, then the lengths and finally the roots, i.e. always from bottom to top, holding the bonds with one hand.
Extensions Care: Styling
Since our extensions are made from human hair, you can style them just like your real hair. They can be styled, kneaded, laid, blow-dried, curled or straightened as desired. This also makes it particularly easy to care for extensions, as you can care for them with the same products as your real hair. When styling with heat-emitting devices ( hair dryer, straightening iron, hot rollers, etc. ), you should be very careful at the attachment points. If the heat is too high, the strands can come loose or individual hairs can fall out of the strand.
In preparation, you should always use a heat protection cream or a heat protection spray to protect your hair from drying out due to the heat. Please remember that straightening your hair can lead to split ends and breakage. If possible, this should not be done too often and only at a maximum temperature of 180° C.
Extensions Care at Night
The most important rule when caring for your extensions is that you never go to sleep with wet hair. Bonds and tapes can become soft when wet and stick to your natural hair. You should therefore always blow-dry your hair before going to sleep. You should brush the hair extensions well before going to sleep and either braid them loosely or tie them loosely to avoid tangling.
This is what you need to consider in addition to caring for your extensions
You should tie your hair extensions into a ponytail before swimming in chlorinated or salt water or before going to the sauna. Swimming with your hair down should be avoided at all costs, as this can lead to matting.
You should never expose the attachment points to long and direct sunlight. If you are exposed to the sun for long periods of time, a heat protection spray is recommended. Even the best care for extensions cannot protect your hair from long periods of direct sunlight. We therefore recommend wearing a hat to protect the bonds in particular. When using sunscreen, self-tanner, tanning spray, etc., it is important to ensure that the extensions do not come into contact with them, as this can lead to discolouration of the hair. Tie the extensions up before use.
Use a moisturising hair treatment and hair oil after exposure to salt or chlorine water. The right care protects your hair extensions from drying out and gives them shine and suppleness. You should also tie your hair up in a ponytail or bun before engaging in sporting activities (fitness, jogging, cycling, etc.).
Care for extensions: colouring/bleaching/perming
Chemical products can damage the attachment points and the hair structure . We therefore advise against chemically treating the extensions. If you still want to dye or bleach your hair extensions, please use oxidants that contain a maximum of 6% H²O². After dyeing, it is particularly important to care for the extensions and repairing hair treatments should be used regularly. Since a lot can go wrong when toning, dyeing and perming, any post-treatment of the extensions will void the warranty.
Products containing fruit acids (e.g., Fructis) should never be used on extensions, as the fruit acids can break down the keratin bonds.

FAQ
Why shouldn't hair extensions be air-dried?
Air-drying can lead to a frizzy appearence of the hair. Blow-drying it on medium heat with the correct products (heat protectant) makes the hair look more shiny, smooth and beautiful. The bonds of the extensions can loosen when they stay wet for too long. Also, drying takes significantly longer when you are wearing extensions. It is also not good for your scalp to stay moist for so long.
Which care products for extensions gives more shine?
We have developed our very own hair care products for extensions, which give the hair more shine and also make it easier to comb. Otherwise, we recommend using a leave-in conditioner or a spray treatment for tangled and straw-like hair. However, you should always make sure that the care products do not contain alcohol or fruit acid.
Can you lose hair despite proper care for extensions?
If you follow all the care instructions and ensure that your hair and scalp are healthy beforehand, you will experience little to no additional hair loss due to the extensions. However, due to natural hair shedding, individual hairs will fall out over time. When the extensions are removed, it may appear as though your natural hair has thinned, but this is usually not the case. It only seems that way because the hair that has shed over the past few months is now falling out all at once. Of course, the weight of the extensions does put additional strain on your hair roots, which is why it is crucial to have the extensions applied correctly by a professional.
